qʷiʔqʷuʔ (pronounced “kwai quo”) means “little water” in Lushootseed, the language of the interior Coast Salish people who inhabited, since time immemorial, the entire area of what is currently known as the Puget Sound. The term is found in the “Lushootseed Dictionary” by D. Bates, T. Hess and V. Hilbert. We honor their heritage by naming our community gathering space with an indigenous translation of Little Brook, the Seattle neighborhood where our community gathering space is located.
